Creative Workshops: Psalms in the Summer

Hey Church at the Well,

This Sunday is the third week of our new summer series exploring the Book of Psalms. The series is going to be 13 weeks in total – ending on September 1st; so we will be spending quite a bit of time with these beautifully written songs. While the Psalms are a part of the Divine narrative, they are also magnificent examples of the creativity God has placed within the human heart.

With that in mind, we are hosting a series of workshops and classes to provide each of us the opportunity to express and grow in the creativity God has given us. You will also see an increased emphasis in the role of the creative arts during our Sunday services. Whether it’s a painting or a poem, expect to see some really exciting things during our worship gatherings.

Each month we will be hosting a different workshop with a new emphasis. Each workshop will provide time and space for a very hands on learning experience. Not to mention, these workshops are completely FREE. Please contact the respective workshop leaders for more info and to RSVP (it is very important that you sign up in advance). Here’s the run down:

Saturday, June 29th at 10am: Painting Workshop with Luann Bailey. Luann will be hosting a painting workshop covering basic technique. As well as insight into how the Psalms and other scriptures have influenced her paintings. Location: First Baptist Church, 81 Saint Paul Street, Burlington, VT. Saturday, July 13th at 10am: Poetry/Psalm Writing Workshop with Abigail Carroll. Abigail will be leading a workshop discussing the structure of how to write a poem or a Psalm. Location: TBA. Contact: carroll.abigail@gmail.com

Saturday, August 10th at 10am: Song Writing workshop with Adam Avery. Adam has been writing and recording music for over two decades. This past year, he has started to pitch his songs to different agents/recording artists. He will lead an insightful and practical discussion about the craft of songwriting. Location: TBA. We are also hosting an Artist’s Retreat August 1st-3rd. It will be a time for writers, painters, musicians, etc. to spend an extended amount of time creating and working. For more information contact Kevin Fitton at Kevin@wellchurchvt.com
