Rooted in ChristWritten by admin on Sep 06, 2021 in - No Comments
In this sermon, Adam shares three reasons for being rooted in Christ, and teaches how to go about putting down roots in Christ.
Proverbs 12:3 (MSG) – You can’t find firm footing in a swamp, but life rooted in God stands firm.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NIV) – But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
Ephesians 3:17 (NLT) – Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.
Colossians 2:6-7a (NIV) – So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith…
John 15:4-5 (NIV) – Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
- Locate a tree close by and imagine what its underground root system looks like. How does this image help you understand what being rooted in God looks like?
- Look over the Bible verses above. Is there one that you’re drawn to today? Why?
- Is there a particular way that Jesus lived or taught us to live that you’d like to practice this coming week?
